Shape The Future Of Health Information Management Across Australia

Code Focus is a team of diverse experts, united by a passion to empower hospital teams with the HIM tools they need.

Equal Opportunity

Remuneration is based on expertise and experience

We offer equal opportunity to all staff and potential employees through our recruitment and retention strategies, regardless of gender, religious observance, disability, nationality, race, and sexual orientation.

Our Code Focus team is currently composed of four women and four men.

We assess performance and set targets for gender equality, including our gender equality action plan, KPIs and use of industry benchmarks. The management team undertakes monitoring and oversight to ensure goals are achieved.

Indigenous Inclusion and Diversity

Recognising and respecting cultural heritage

We acknowledge the land in which we are headquartered and pay our respect to the people of the Kulin Nation. We recognise and respect the cultural heritage of all Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their beliefs and their relationship with the land. We pay our respect to all Elders past, present and emerging.

It is with a mindset of diversity that we employ people of all races, religions, genders, and cultures. We have and do employ Victorian Aboriginal people, other Australian Aboriginal people, and North American Aboriginal people.

We have strategies to enable staff to undertake cultural practice during normal working hours. The key to success in this area is dialogue between the team member and the company about when and where the activity is taking place.

Supporting People with Disability

Members of the team contributing and being rewarded on an equal basis

We are aware of the opportunities and benefits of employing people who have physical or intellectual disabilities. We have a partnership with Workways Australia, as one pathway for recruiting staff with a disability.

Our offices have been designed to maximise accessibility.

As well as ensuring a suitable physical environment, we have well-established management strategies that seek to ensure that team members with special needs are engaged, productive and valued, while simultaneously allowing appropriate flexibility.

Sustainability

Code Focus operates in accordance with a custom Environmental Sustainability Statement of which all employees and contractors are made aware of and is reviewed annually.

In addition to our internal policies, Data Agility, the parent company of Code Focus, is an early signatory to Victorian Government’s TAKE2 initiative which seeks to limit global temperature rise to less than two degrees centigrade. We actively advocate taking the pledge with our clients and the business community.

Our approach to sustainability has four streams:

Employment policy

We vet all incoming and existing staff for Modern Slavery law and Code Focus policy compliance.

We will never employ people who have been convicted of any offence involving Modern Slavery. To the best of our knowledge, we do not employ people who have been or are the subject of any investigation, inquiry or proceedings by any Governmental Agency regarding any offence or alleged offence of or in connection with Modern Slavery.

We remunerate our staff in line with Australian information technology standards and their individual professional expertise and experience.

Suppliers policy

The majority of our suppliers are large international IT firms who operate in jurisdictions/territories that require a comprehensive approach.

A key component to our oversight of suppliers is ensuring that they have detailed policies and procedures to identify and address modern slavery, and they undertake and publish audits of their modern slavery performance.

For example, Microsoft is a major supplier to Code Focus and their 2022 report can be found here: https://aka.ms/modernslaveryandhumantrafficking.

Compliance with Modern Slavery Laws

We are committed to complying with the Modern Slavery Act 2018.

We will never directly or indirectly use child, forced or involuntary labour in any form, or in any way be associated with slavery or human trafficking.

We maintain policies and procedures to ensure we comply with Modern Slavery Laws, and continuously implement a system of training for our staff.

Monitoring, reporting and acting

We review reporting materials of all relevant suppliers as soon as practicable.

Upon becoming aware of either any breach or suspected breach of our Modern Slavery undertakings, we suspend usage of the relevant supplier or employment of the relevant member of staff.

We take all steps to remedy any non-compliance with our undertakings including ensuring that Modern Slavery will not reoccur.

We maintain policies and procedures to ensure we comply with Modern Slavery Laws, and continuously implement a system of training for our staff.
